TechPB.Com started out as a YouTube Channel for Mike Phillips to pass along his knowledge from nearly 20 years as a player. Over time the popularity of the videos grew and along with Mike, Willie, and Gavin came on board to develop a website to showcase the videos and house forums and other attractions.  Later Shepp volunteered to run TechPB’s chat, which serves as the audience for Phillips’ live internet radio show.

TechPB has become one of the fastest growing paintball websites in the game, and part of what makes it so popular is the wide variety of people and personalities involved with the project. From the loud and profane Mike and Willie to the quiet bedrock Gavin, the ownership of TechPB is balanced. Toss into the mix the extremely English moderator Kitty and extremely intelligent Cockerpunk, and TechPB has something to offer everyone!

This weekend’s activities were held at Tampa Bay’s Kohn Sports, a 60+ acre facility near Riverview, Florida. Both NPPL and X-Ball fields were available for play, as well as Kohn’s woodsball fields. Around 40 players showed up for the event, which was as widely varied as the owners of TechPB. Pro Player Daniel Holliday of Tampa Bay Damage was on hand, as well as all of the owners of TechPB, new players, media people like me, and of course Kitty, who made a stop on her way from New Hampshire to Hawaii to be with her fiance` to join the festivities. Also on hand was Sean from GuruGunStands.Com, makers of  marker stands.

The event itself was open and relaxed, with everyone enjoying each other’s company both on and off field. I alternated between my Egos and my Nikon Camera for the day, until Mike told me to put the camera down and get on the field. Fortunately for me, Willie’s wife was on hand taking photos as well, and it’s rumored that she was able to make me look graceful and composed on field. We’re still awaiting the photographic evidence of this.

The TechPB Day at Kohn Sports will continue next weekend at Kohn, where Mike and Kitty will settle some differences that have cropped up on the field, where it belongs.
