What comes after the High Rate of Fire Giggle?

Here in the Deep South, we play a little rougher than other parts of the country. We play hard, we party hard, and and we like shooting fast. Down here a lot of 1- and 2- year old ‘space guns’ (The semi-insulting term for high-end guns) are making their way into the hands of hardcore Mil-Sim and Scenario players.

While I suspect this is an ongoing nationwide trend, it’s very pronounced here because of the huge number of players, and the correspondingly high number of recreational and scenario players participating in games all over the south.

One phenomenon that’s come about is the “High Rate of Fire” giggle, that sound a player makes after rapping off his first burst with a high end paintball gun. A cross between a cackle and the laugh that Scooby Do would make, the High Rate of Fire Giggle is a distinctive sound.

Dale “Rattpack” Surratt is a tough guy. He works in corrections at one of the toughest facilities out there. Outwardly a very friendly man, and a devoted father, Rattpack is also a member of a team cavorting about the SouthEast having a grand old time playing, and using all of the tools of the trade, including several heavily customized Mil-Sim guns. He initially scoffed at the idea of going to a ‘space gun’, until he actually got to try one.

Recently Rattpack got his first high-end gun, a Redz Ego 7. Other than being a private lable gun, the Redz is only lightly customized with a CP trigger. Teammate and friend Joe “Sideshow” Holleran ‘violated’ the gun prior to selling it to Rattpack, and even went so far as to deliver it personally to Dale.

They say that silence is one of the strongest forms of expression. When Rattpack ripped off his first burst with his new high-end gun, there was no giggle. Rather than a barely controlled aural expression of his delight, Rattpack was his normal strong, silent self, with only a tear rolling down his cheek to indicate any emotion on his part.

So, now we know what ‘next level’ is to the High Rate of Fire Giggle. Silence is indeed golden.
