Lately there have been rumors regarding JT Sports and their alleged demise. Based on conversations with employees of the company and an investigation conducted by a Minion in the Neosho, MO area, it would appear the rumors of JT’s demise are overstated.
In a phone conversation with Chuck Geiling of JT Sports December 21st, he admitted that he hadn’t heard the rumor concerning JT closing their doors for good, and noted that their parent company, Jarden had never closed down a company that they acquired, especially when they made money as JT Sports did in 2009.
Due to changes in the landscape for Brass Eagle and economic conditions, JT Sports/Brass Eagle had made the decision to get out of the paint manufacturing business, and was in the process of putting up the Neosho, MO facility up for bid for either sale or lease. At this time we have heard of two potential buyers for the equipment and/or facility. The projected closing of the paint manufacturing facility in Neosho is slated for sometime in 2010.
This change will have no impact whatsoever on JT Sports’ other product lines, including VL Loaders and JT Masks and soft goods.
A Ford Report Minion living in Missouri spoke to people in the Neosho area regarding what they’ve heard regarding JT Sports/Brass Eagle, and the grapevine in Neosho confirms what we’ve been told by Mr. Geiling. The JT Sports facility in Neosho is seperate from the Brass Eagle facility, and while our Minion was able to get a picture of the Brass Eagle facility, he was unable to gain lawful access to take a picture of the JT Sports facility. At this time it appeared to the Minion that the Brass Eagle facility was still operational.
