Holy Grail VIII: The Marco/Polo Tale of the Tape

Eric “Sasquatch” Juchniewicz as King Arthur and Bill “Firebug” Miester as the outrageous French King will be squaring off this coming weekend to decide who will be the owner of the Holy Grail at NOCER Productions’ “Holy Grail VIII: In Your Midst” at Old River Paintball in Ocklawaha, FL.

But there’s another match-up that’s been brewing in the background. During one of the earlier games, Doom Trooper “Georgia” Joe Hamilton and South Beach Pimp Dale “Furby” Ford spent their time hunting each other down in a “Marco/Polo” game of their own, with the loser getting the snot shot out of him!

Finally for the 2010 season the two players will have the chance to continue their own game at Old River, and for the uninitiated, here’s the tale of the tape between “Georgia” Joe Hamilton and Dale “Furby” Ford:

Georgia” Joe Hamilton, Doom Trooper:

Height: 5’8”

Weight: 280 pounds

Age: 37

Equipment: Planet Eclipse “Dark Trooper” Ego 6 with LAPCO Bigshot/Apex combination (photo shows the moment Hamilton fell in love with PE guns, with Ford’s old Ego 5)

“Georgia” Joe Hamilton is one of the most talented game writers in the game right now, and recently took over LCP Scenario Games. Despite being busy with LCP Scenario Games, Joe is still an avid player, and Holy Grail is an event he NEVER misses.

The father of 5 isn’t the fastest player on the field, but he’s notorious for his expertise with the Apex barrel system. Coupled with the Ego 6, he’ll have the range advantage on Ford, while maintaining parity in rate of fire and efficiency.

Dale “Furby” Ford, South Beach Pimp

Height: 5’10”

Weight: 190 pounds

Age: 39

Equipment: Planet Eclipse “Charge” Ego 10 with Deadlywind “Fibur” barrel.

At first glance, “Furby” would seem to have an advantage on Hamilton, as he’s got years of tournament experience under his belt before retiring from competitive play. However, in addition to being slightly older than Hamilton, Ford has had extensive surgery on both knees, which despite his weight advantage on Hamilton, the two players are roughly equal in slowness.

While Hamilton is notorious for his accuracy and range, Ford is more of a “one case, one kill” type of player, a holdover from his time on the tournament field.

The Pre-Registration Deadline has already passed for this year’s Holy Grail event, but reports from sources indicate that this is going to be one of the largest games ever held at Old River Paintball. The event happens March 27th-28th, so it’s still not too late to make plans for a weekend of fun and sillyness , or set up your own “Marco/Polo” game with a friend.
