The Blenheim Group has filed suit against KEE Action Sports, JT Sports, K2, and several other companies and individuals regarding the patent numbers that the companies put on their products.
While this doesn’t sound like a huge issue, in the patent world it’s apparently seen as a huge no-no. The Blenheim Group is asking for a financial penalty of $500 per piece (each individual product) which it will split with the US Government. Additionally, they’re also asking for legal fees to be paid by KEE.
We contacted representatives of KEE Action Sports who said that they’ve been made aware of the error in the packaging, and were currently taking steps to correct the issue moving forward. The representative also commented that at no time did KEE Action Sports or JT Sports intentionally mislead the playing public.
The Summons to the defendants in the case was sent out 11/17/2010. To see the complaint filed by The Blenheim Group, click HERE
