The 2012 World Cup Security Team

As has been tradition for the past several years, I’ve had a ‘Security Team” in place for that year’s World Cup. I give pictures and announce who and what the members of the Security Team are, and encourage members of the Industry to set up their appointments to sit down with me at World Cup in advance.

This year is going to be a bit different.

There will be no 2012 World Cup Security Team. Why? Because Ashley and I aren’t attending this year’s World Cup. For the first time in several years, I will not be attending World Cup.

In many ways, tournament paintball in general has been on a bit of a downslope. “Hope” and “Change”, or rather the lack thereof economically, are the main reason for this downward trend. World Cup, with it’s end of the season time and spectacular venue has largely been immune to the drops in attendance and industry interest.

This year is a bit different, because LCP Scenario Games announced the date of the latest installment of the “Zombie Apocalypse” series of games well before the PSP announced their dates for this year’s World Cup. Behind the scenes, tongues have been wagging and whispers have been going on about the audacity of LCP’s Billy Smith scheduling a scenario game on top of the PSP World Cup. As far as I know, the dates for “Zombie Apocalypse” were set well in advance of any announcement from the PSP, so technically speaking, it’s the PSP scheduling on top of LCP Scenario Games.

The latest chapter of “Zombie Apocalypse” is no ordinary scenario game, and Billy Smith and “Georgia” Joe Hamilton are far from ordinary scenario game producers. Due to recent health problems, Georgia Joe has recently undergone surgery, with more procedures to come. In addition to being a Zombie slaying good time, LCP Scenario Games’ production is also going to be a charity event to help defray living and medical costs for Georgia Joe. Members of the Industry are invited to come set up a booth free of charge at the event to show off their wares and help make a good event helping a good man a great event.

Ashley and I will be attending “Zombie Apocalypse” as representatives for Machine Paintball, setting up a booth to show off the Vapor, offer technical support to the growing number of Vapor owners in the Southeast, as well as getting out on the field with our Vapors to demonstrate directly why we believe the Vapor is the finest paintball gun in the world today.

To get signed up for “Zombie Apocalypse”, click on the picture above, and if you can’t make it but want to make a donation to benefit “Georgia” Joe Hamilton and his family, you can find the means to do so on that page.

For those of you in the Industry who wanted to sit down with Ashley and I this year, you are all still more than welcome to contact me via email or phone or by all means, come on up to LCP and set up a booth!
