Over the course of my paintball 'career' I've done just about everything a player can do, including owning a shop.  I started out with a tiny online shop while I lived in Oklahoma, and later after I'd moved to Florida me, long time friend Kurt Wise and business partner Bryan Gilchrist owned "Unreal Paintball and Gaming" in Hudson, FL. Like any shop, we had an account with NPS, so we had some c... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: George Spurlock 0 CommentsPosted by on under Dirt, Industry News, News, The Ford Report, Top Story
It's no secret that I'm friends with the Spurlock Brothers.   Mike, Andrew and George are all genuinely good people and very good at what they do, so what's not to like? Eldest brother George is the main reason for this.   Back 'in the day' George served as the face and front man for a lot of Mike's ventures, including OGI, a company formed to build and sell the legendary HALO loader.   T... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Jonathan “Pedro” Davis 0 CommentsPosted by on October 13, 2014 under Dirt, League Coverage, Scenario Coverage, The Ford Report
Jonathan "Pedro" Davis is not a pro player who burned up the circuit for years, nor does he have much desire to be famous or idolized.  He was part of the SPPL team Black and Blue Krew who utterly destroyed the All Americans in 2007, and while that league was in operation, he was a pivotal part of the team. Pedro is actually a very nice guy.  I think he's around 25 now.  I first met him and ... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: ‘Krazy Kim’ 0 CommentsPosted by on under Dirt, Scenario Coverage, The Ford Report
I really do know Kim's full name, but as she's not really involved with paintball anymore, I'm using her nickname that she got around us to protect her privacy. I met Kim at Low Country Paintball during the Shooting Hot Magazine era, in 2009 or 2010.  As you can tell from the photo, she's an extremely attractive lady, and at the time I met her, around 23-24 years old.   This particular photo... more.

"I've just been down the gullet of an interstellar cockroach. That's one of a hundred memories I don't want." Tommy Lee Jones as “K”, Men In Black     Normally around this time of the year I'm thinking about the year that's just about gone by and what's happened in the game and the industry to present it as a “Year in Review” editorial.   This year it's going to... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Kerry “Warhawk” Griffin 0 CommentsPosted by on October 10, 2014 under Dirt, News, The Ford Report, Top Story
Kerry and I have actually known of each other for years, due to our mutual friendship with "TB" Wright of WorldOfTB.Com fame.    He's an old school scenario game producer and player, and his years of expertise show in how his games go.  I've played a few of his games in Florida now, and have enjoyed them immensely. Kerry is a huge man, and at first glance extremely intimidating.  However h... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Thomas and Melody Presson 0 CommentsPosted by on under Dirt, News, The Ford Report, Top Story
Thomas and Melody Presson are relatively new to the game of paintball, but obviously they have chops as business people.   I first heard of Paracord Addiction earlier this year, and I've watched Thomas and Melody turn what I initially thought was a bit of a gimmick into a serious up-and-coming player within the Industry. The men in my family tend to be stone-faced, which especially in my fath... more.

I've been riding motorcycles of one kind or another for most of my life. From the minibike my dad got for me when I was 7, eventually graduating into dirt bikes of various sizes, and finally street bikes, I've been on two wheels of one sort or another for 37 years and counting now.   Over the years I've owned and ridden a variety of bikes, mostly sport bikes of one kind or another. My l... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Mike Spurlock, Part 2 0 CommentsPosted by on October 3, 2014 under Dirt, Industry News, News, The Ford Report, Top Story
Mike Spurlock is one tough bastard.   Back in 2011, while the first generation Vapor was still in development and early production, he was involved in a scooter accident in Taiwan, where he was living at the time.   He spent 3 days in the hospital, and eventually checked himself out so he could get back to work. One of the first things he did was to Skype me demanding that I take a screensh... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: John Rice 0 CommentsPosted by on October 2, 2014 under Dirt, News, The Ford Report, Top Story
For those of you new to the game, John Rice is one of those names you probably aren't familiar with.  In 2002,  when I met John at that year's Mardi Gras Open, he was riding the crest of his design expertise.  That year the WDP Angel IR3 was introduced, with a new breech sensing system that he felt would revolutionize the industry. Obviously I wanted to sit down with him and talk about it fo... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Mike Phillips 0 CommentsPosted by on under Dirt, News, The Ford Report, Top Story
This one time in St. Pete, Mike Phillips saved me from a beating. Not really, but the guy who had designs on beating me up was pretty sure he could do it... The year was 2010 if I remember correctly.   It might have been in 2011, shortly after I'd separated from the woman I talked about in Frank Connell's Funny Paintball People story.   I honestly don't remember who had talked to who reg... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Frank Connell 0 CommentsPosted by on October 1, 2014 under Dirt, News, Top Story
If you read The Ford Report regularly, you might think that Frank "Da Tank" Connell hates my guts and regularly drives to Georgia to beat me up.  The fact is that we're friends, and we talk semi-regularly, even though we're supposed to hate each other because he owns Vanguard USA and I work for Machine Paintball. To be honest, I'm a bit of a Frank Connell fanboy.  What little formal training ... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Steven Ledbetter 0 CommentsPosted by on under Dirt, Industry News, League Coverage, News, Top Story
Steven Ledbetter isn't a captain of industry, a pro player or anyone you'd call a 'big wig' in the game.  He owns a small field in the Atlanta Metro area (Carnage Paintball), writes scenario games and is heavily involved with his teams, Atlanta Phoenix and Atlanta Phoenix Tactical. I first met Steven in 2007 at Camp Blanding during LCP Scenario Games' "Revenge of a Nerd".  I was the commander... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Gerry Bates 0 CommentsPosted by on September 25, 2014 under Dirt, News, The Ford Report, Top Story
Gerry Bates is the all knowing, all powerful guru of Planet Eclipse.  As the Master/Lead Tech, he's your go-to guy for all things Planet.  If he can't fix it, it's likely too far gone to be fixed.   He is revered by grassroots users and Pro Players alike. .....and I can't tell his story.  Someone very important to me asked me to never tell his story. So I won't.  Unless I'm extremely d... more.
  • Funny Paintball People: Billy Wing 0 CommentsPosted by on under Dirt, News, The Ford Report, Top Story
When you think of high end pro paintball players, you think cocky, arrogant, and generally unpleasant to be around.  For that matter, high end Am players can be pretty obnoxious too. But I digress.  This isn't a story about how difficult it can be to be around Pro Players. I first met Billy Wing in 2004, at the World Cup that year.  The DM4 had just dropped and people were literally overr... more.
